Our Agenda

We are longtime subscribers to The Guernsey Gazette. Especially considering the small size of our town, the Gazette is an invaluable resource. Staff Writer Lisa Phelps, who authors many articles, is a skilled reporter and writer, and has a good heart. We appreciate this publication and encourage you to subscribe to the Gazette if you have not already done so.
The Porcupine has its own agenda which does not include competing with the Gazette. We, along with many others, believe the changing demographics of our town (articulated in our recent article) is no accident and is a death sentence for our economy.
While our country has many serious

problems, we nevertheless believe the United States to be the cleanest shirt in a dirty laundry. Did you know that only 4% of our country’s citizens were involved in the Revolution that gave us our nation? That means 96% of the people sat around, hung out and let a tiny number of courageous patriots risk their necks to give us this great nation. These patriots knew that if they lost or were captured they would be hauled back to England and hanged before the King. Some were caught and paid this ultimate price.
Did you also know that the Founders believed this country they fought so valiantly to give us would not last more than twenty years? This was because they understood human

nature and its frailty. The fact is they knew most people lack the courage to become involved and prefer to be entertained and talk trash about their neighbors.
It is nothing short of a miracle that our country has prevailed for 250 years. However, most of us can see there are many cracks in the dam and we are in grave danger of losing our nation. We have become a nation of takers rather and givers preferring to seek and take freebies from hard working producers using the governmental process to do so.
It is our wish that The Porcupine can help Guernsey to change direction and right itself to once again be givers rather than takers.
